... SAAB sports car model. The stylists and designers have received directives to use standard SAAB parts to as great an extent as possible in the prototypes. At the showing in connection with the BBC TV Rally, a short release and a couple of photographs of the car were handed out to journalists. In addition to what has already been said, the press release included only the following technical information about the car: This car naturally has front wheel drive and a threecylinder, twostroke engine of the tested and genuine SAAB type. The output will be about 60 h.p., i.e. rather more than the output of the SAAB Sport engine now installed. The power transmission system is of stabdard type on the whole. The final drive ratio will, however, be modified so tfrat the engine output can be utilized properly in this light car - the dry weight is only about 65O kg (1455 lbs). Maximum speed is expected to be about 160 km.p.h. (100 m.p.h.). In the case of eventual series production, the body will be made of glassfibre rein forced plastic. We are not prepared at the moment to provide more detailed technical informat ion since we know so little about possible modifications and improvements which may result from the experience gained in testing.
