... Adventure Begins The car waits, poised for action, a slender mimosacoloured missile on the launch pad. Inside, the uncompromising efficiency of its instru mentation and control layout is a graphic message of power and performance. Purposefully contoured seats faced with durable, nonslip brushed nylon, a neat alloy and black leather racing wheel, a short, stubby gearlever — all these amplify the potent promise. From the driving seat, every switch and control falls naturally to the hand, every instrument to the eye. Flanked by nonglare walnut veneer, the big rev. counter and matching speedometer are clearly functiondesigned. Yet, in their stark simplicity, they achieve a rare beauty. This is a theme which extends throughout the interior. It is apparent in the mansize, heavily chromed seat adjustment levers, in the nononsense controls for the heater/demister with its twospeed booster fan, in the fatly padded facia surround and steering wheel boss, in the vast, sloping, tophinged rear window with its regimented tracery of electric heating elements. Every item, every feature has earned its place in the car by adding comfort, safety or efficiency. There are no frills, no ornaments, no gimmicks.
