... -m^%r:h -3- % * Seats are true buckettype — functional for fast driving through hair pin corners — with a high wall on each side for lateral support. The headrest is built out to prevent snapback injury, and leather padding along the front of the roll bar is another safety feature. An aircraft lap belt and racing shoulder harness are built into the cockpit. Unique upandout action door handles, rather than the conventional twist type, are based on the mechanical principle of the Falcon tailgate latch. Metal pins hold the doors in a closed position until the pins are retracted by pulling up and out on the door handles. Driving controls are on the console, at the right hand of the driver. In front are the fourspeed shift lever and a flyoff brake. The shift knob is a transparent plastic design that reveals the shift pattern in an unusual three dimensional diagram. Just behind is the horn pedal, operated with the heel of the hand. A toggleswitch turn signal is next, operated by a springloaded escapement. A choke lever, rather than the usual knob is located behind the turn signal near the engine, and designed for easy operation. Ignition and light control switches are mounted vertically on the"inner body structure, at the driver's left. The hood release is on the opposite panel.
