Even at its presentation at the Turin Motor Show, the Abarth 1100 Sport shone with its futuristic coupé bodywork by Ghia. 62 years later, it won its class at Pebble Beach after an extensive restoration. The Simca sedan was a favorite of the 'hobby' testers. To avoid being biased or coming to conclusions too quickly, one tester put the 1958 Simca Aronde through its paces over several thousand kilometers. And still could hardly find any faults. He was thrilled. This report reproduces the original wording of the intensive test from 1958, supplemented with archive illustrations and a sales brochure from 1956.
Around 6,000 of the Simca Aronde Plein Ciel coupé were built between 1956 and 1962. Attractive, sporty, but very expensive, it did find some enthusiasts, but the great success for Simca was rather the saloons of the Aronde series.
