In 1957, Bill Devin, an American car manufacturer and racing driver, seized the opportunity to build his own large-volume sports car. The performance figures of the Devin SS put almost all comparable competitors in the shade. However, the project was not a commercial success and only 15 vehicles (and three kits) were sold by 1959. Today, the Devin SS are sought-after classics and are among the fastest in their class in historic racing.
