From 1968 to 1975, BMW built the E9 series, which consisted of the 2800 CS, 3.0 CS, 3.0 CSI, 3.0 CSL and 2.5 CS coupés. 30,546 units were produced and not only attracted covetous glances in the showrooms, but also many touring car victories in racing as hot CSL variants. This report goes into the history of the E9 series and describes driving impressions with the BMW 2800 CS, illustrated with many current and historical pictures.
