Summary
Nelson Piquet is a successful F1 racing driver, but at least as successful as an entrepreneur. This has allowed him to build up an impressive car collection, with around 50 exhibits designed for driving rather than standing. A visit to this car collection shows what Piquet is into and why he likes to get his fingers dirty.
This article contains the following chapters
- Passion for cars almost in the cradle
- Dirty fingers
- Well organized
- Virgin Rolls-Royce from 1926
- Rarities, but also former everyday cars
- Brazilian exotics
- Original or heavily tuned
- On the airplane runway
- Several youngtimers and neo-classics
- Hardly any F1 cars

During the Advent season, children open doors every day, even if only on the Advent calendar. We had the special pleasure of opening the large door with the number 24 and taking a look at the automobile collection of Brazilian F1 world champion Nelson Piquet. Today, Nelson Piquet earns more money with his company "Autotrac" (a tracking system for logistics companies that prevents empty runs and extra kilometers) than he earned during his entire racing career combined. His passion for cars began at the young age of ten. "My mother drove an old DKW. A friend of the family had a Cadillac. What a ship. What a driving experience compared to our DKW. I fell in love with these cars, even all the details on the car were absolutely unique. Look at the fuel filler flap, it's hidden under the tail light here. It's brilliant. That's why the first car in my collection was a 1956 Cadillac Eldorado. I now have four of them. One is currently being restored."
