Summary
There were around 10,000 car brands and designers - most of them have disappeared. Founded in 1957 by William Woodhouse in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, Tornado Cars Limited was one of those companies that initially gave English fans the pleasure of tinkering and then the pleasure of driving a sports car at a reasonable price. In addition to kits, the Tornado models were also available from 1959 as fully built coupés and roadsters, both with two or just under four seats. The Tornado chassis comprised a main frame and two subframes in the form of tubes of different diameters. In addition, there were specially developed wheel suspensions including a front independent wheel construction and a rear rigid axle with Panhard rod. The plastic bodywork stood out with its racing-style, sweeping design.
