At the NEC Classic, the Silverstone auction house auctioned off 138 vehicles for a total of GBP 8.3 million. An average of GBP 73,500 was paid per car. Sporty Ford cars did particularly well, but the high-flyer was a Mercedes-Benz 600 SL, which was knocked down for more than double its estimated value after an almost epic bidding battle.
