Gooding stood on his own two feet for 21 years after learning his trade at Christie's, where he worked his way up to Global Head of the International Motor Car Division. Together with his wife Dawn Ahrens, David Gooding set up his own business in 2003, after a brief interlude at RM Auctions. Gooding & Company quickly became one of the leading auction houses in its field and was the official auctioneer in Pebble Beach, among other things. David Gooding has now sold his company to Christie's, but we will continue to hold a leading position there, as he explained to us in an interview. Zwischengas: Mr. Gooding, will Christie's continue to use the name Gooding & Company? David Gooding: Absolutely, Christie's will continue to use the established Gooding name. Our new company will be called Gooding Christie's and will operate in the same way, with its familiar integrity and identity, now simply under the Christie's brand.
