What does a lover of historic cars do today at the Geneva Motor Show, where tradition has unfortunately been completely forgotten? They allow themselves to be distracted by the models that showcase the vehicles. As the wind tunnel shapes of today's cars are becoming more and more uniform, at least the hostesses add some color. Only four exhibitors have staged their new products with traditional elements. Renault is showing the Type K, the winning car of the 1902 Paris-Vienna race, while Toyota is linking its new GT 86 to its predecessor, the 2000 GT. Bertone presents an Alfa Romeo study from 1955 of the Giulietta Spider alongside the wild creation of the "Bertone Nuccio Concept". All the other manufacturers have unfortunately forgotten where they came from, or perhaps feared that their earlier vehicles would attract too much attention. Mercedes can still build 200 years of SLs with outputs of up to 1,000 hp, but they can never "top" the Gullwing, even with all the technology available today.
