Preview (beginning of the article)
On April 27, 2024, Broad Arrow Auctions, in cooperation with "Air | Water and Luftgekühlt" in California, auctioned 55 Porsches, a RUF-Porsche and some automobilia. The cars had been valued in advance at a total of USD 28.6 million. A quarter of them went under the hammer without a reserve price. On average, the cars were 35 years old, so young cars were well represented. 35 sports and racing cars were sold for a total of USD 13.56 million, meaning that buyers paid USD 387,304 per car. On average, the highest bids reached 85% of the average estimate. The three most expensive Porsches sold were a Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach from 2015 (USD 2.865 million), a 959 Komfort from 1988 (USD 1.930 million) and a Carrera GT built in 2005 (USD 1.793 million).
