Summary
As part of Monterey/Pebble Beach Week, Bonhams organized the annual Quail Lodge auction on 16 August 2024, at which 107 cars (and a Vespa) went under the hammer alongside a number of Automobila. More than three quarters of the vehicles were sold, with mainly more expensive super classics remaining. Tom Petty's Ford Mustang, however, stole the show. This auction review analyzes the results and shows all the vehicles in pictures.

Preview (beginning of the article)
On August 16, 2024, Bonhams auctioned 107 automobiles and a Vespa in addition to several Automobila as part of the Monterey/Pebble Beach week in Carmel. The total value of the vehicles was estimated at USD 33.6 million, so USD 311,065 was expected per lot. However, two thirds of the vehicles went under the hammer without a minimum bid and in fact many vehicles were sold for less than expected. In total, 77% of the cars were sold, with buyers having to pay an average of USD 152,595. Despite the comparatively high average age of 57 years, only eight cars were from the years before 1945. At the same time, only a few cars had a year of manufacture that did not yet make them youngtimers, with eleven cars built after 1994.
