It was the third edition of the Mercedes-Benz one-make auction organized by Bonhams on 19 March 2016 at the museum in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim. And the offer that was brought together was more than impressive. In total, there were 57 vehicle lots, which together represented a value of around 30 million euros or 32 million Swiss francs. Each vehicle was therefore expected to fetch around EUR 512,000 or CHF 558,000. However, the bidders were obviously less decisive and generous than the Bonhams organizers and the consignors had probably hoped. Only half of the cars were knocked down. For once, it was the rare examples built before the war that fetched the highest prices. However, only two of the eleven pre-war rarities were sold. The Mercedes-Benz 24/100/140 hp Model K La Baule Transformable from 1926 cost the buyer 862,500 euros or CHF 941,763, which was still around 15% below the estimated value despite the proud sum. And a Mercedes-Benz 8/38 HP Stuttgart 200 Cabriolet from 1932 found its way into a new garage for Euro 82,800 or CHF 90,409.
