Photo Gallery «Bonhams Amelia Island 2020 - French-American battle for a Renault»
Bonhams auctioned 116 vehicles at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elégance on March 5, 2020, with the total value estimated at over USD 40 million. The average age of over 67 years and the broad brand landscape (around 53 manufacturers/brands) documented an extremely diverse offering with a large pre-war component. A long and tough battle was fought over the Renault Type AI 35/45HP Vanderbilt Racer from 1907, which was ultimately won by an American museum against tough French resistance. Three quarters of the cars were sold, achieving an average selling price (including commission/surcharge) of just over USD 242,000. This report analyzes the results, looks at the mood on site and shows pictures of the vehicles on offer.
