Bianchi 1905-1939 - In addition to bicycles
Summary
There were around 10,000 car brands and designers - most of them have disappeared. One of these lost brands is Bianchi, founded by Edoardo Bianchi, who improved the bicycle technology of the time before going into automobile production. Various models were launched, including the Tipo 20 and the subsequent Tipo S8 Berlina Sport Speciale. In 1955, Bianchi car production was then transferred to Autobianchi SpA, which was newly founded by Fiat and Pirelli.

At the age of 21, Edoardo Bianchi founded a small bicycle factory in Milan in 1885. As an innovative talent, he improved the bicycle technology of the time, creating motorized two- to four-wheeled vehicles from 1897 and "real" automobiles from 1905. These four-cylinder models were built alongside the bicycles and motorcycles and became increasingly larger, even reaching up to 8.5 liters of displacement. However, even before the First World War, the S1 model (1.4-liter engine) marked a reorientation towards more modern and lighter models and thus larger quantities. Launched in 1925, the Tipo 20 with a 2.3-litre engine and sporty bodywork also found fans in export markets such as Switzerland and England. In 1928, however, Società Anonima Edoardo Bianchi took another big step forward and launched an eight-cylinder model on the market.
