Summary
On January 27, 2026, Artcurial auctioned 67 collector's vehicles ranging from tricycles to tractors at the Peninsula Hotel in Paris. Although only 40 lots were sold for a total of 19.5 million euros, the first half of the auction produced two major sensations: one was to be expected - the other was not. Our auction review contains all the prices achieved and analyzes the results.

Preview (beginning of the article)
Even before the opening evening of the Rétromobile, Artcurial held its auction at the Peninsula Hotel in Paris on January 27. And it started with a bang: 80,000 euros was the highest bid for a Renault 4! Not an ordinary one, but one of only 563 Plein Air cars built, but it still exceeded all expectations. Even those of the auction house: plus buyer's premium, the final selling price was 92,800 euros - 3.7 times the median estimate. Unfortunately, things did not continue at this level afterwards. Of the 67 lots offered (two had been withdrawn before the auction), only 40 were sold, of which only 14 exceeded their median estimate. Interestingly, the 27 slow sellers included five cars without a reserve price, which suggests that even the starting bid was probably set too high. In total, Artcurial was only able to realize 19.5 million euros, which is barely two thirds of the original total estimate.
