The time has come! More and more vintage and classic cars have electronic control units on board. Just a few years ago, the subject of electronics was completely ignored during restoration work. Now it has become vital for many vehicles. Since the end of the 1980s, electronic control units have become increasingly prevalent in vehicle construction. Initially, they were only responsible for engine management. Since the 1990s, more and more control functions have been added, such as climate control or ESP. Today, they even control the charging current for the battery or the high beam when driving at night. Hardware and software are therefore extremely complex. It is therefore not surprising that a control unit is responsible for almost every function in modern cars.
