On the weekend of September 18, 2011, the popular Goodwood Revival took place in England, probably one of the most impressive historic racing events ever. This picture story gives an impression of the event and shows some particularly beautiful and memorable moments.

For many, it meant getting up early to get to Goodwood in time for the Revival. It was easy to forget one or two things....

A few arrived so early that they still had to bridge the time until the start....

... or have a coffee.

But there was already a lot of work going on in the paddock...

...and the engines warmed up, ...

looking for problems ...

or have already given up in resignation.

But soon the vehicles were lined up in a row ...

... ready for the historic highlight of the year.

The fans in authentic clothing wait eagerly for the famous line ...

... "Ladies and gentlemen, start your engine!".

And off we go! One race after another starts in a breathtaking atmosphere.

Some are waving flags ...

... photographing others ...

... many simply enjoy the races.

There is a tough battle on the track, ...

... often with somewhat unequal means.

One competitor brakes very late and hard, ...

... while others tried a drift.

While some vehicles lift a "leg" like a dog ...

... others try to find a shortcut.

But watch out, because the police are everywhere ...

... and photographs all the actors' missteps.

There were quite a few missteps, whether driving errors ...

... or contact with the enemy, many a ...

... parked his car on the grass, or ...

even sank it in the gravel.

Not always only flowers were damaged, ...

... Some people even deformed their cars ...

... beyond recognition.

A Ford GT 40 was very keen on all the polystyrene signs and ...

... transformed the route into a winter wonderland.

But here, too, the English knew how to help themselves.

The Putz-Equippe was always ready, ...

... but was powerless against the sudden downpour, which ...

... the track turned into a swimming pool in a flash ...

... and lured the fans under the tables.

Between races, the oil-smeared face was washed, ...

... the seating comfort improves ...

... or the hat held on the head.

Not all of the engines had fun, ...

... Some threw their entire oil content onto the track.

There were happy winners in every category, ...

... and a wreath for the car.

In the end, unfortunately, it was goodbye again ...

but it is certain that the spectators will be warmly welcomed again next year.
