In both 1979 and 1980, a ProCar race was held in Europe as part of the Formula 1 supporting program. A maximum of 19 touring car drivers battled against the five fastest drivers in F1 training, with identical BMW M1s as their cars. In 2008, the racing cars competed for the first time in the form of a ProCar Revival, and again in 2016 on the occasion of the Austrian GP. 14 cars and many of the drivers from back then came ... and stole the show from modern Formula 1. This race report shows the cars and drivers in many pictures and tells some of the background stories.
