From around 1970, a stock car racing scene began in Bonn and the surrounding area with races for everyone, presumably infected by the proximity to the Nürburgring. The Zwischengas editorial team is always pleased to receive interesting stories from our readers. Recently, Klaus D. Lehmann-Gräve sent us memories of a unique event in Bonn that probably took place in 1970. In the 1960s, as a racing enthusiast and photographer for the school newspaper, I attended as many events as possible in and around Bonn, where I lived at the time. In the evenings, the bathroom was transformed into a darkroom. Fortunately for the family, there was a second toilet. The next morning, the best photos were sent to relevant motoring newspapers such as ralley&racing. A few of the prints brought a small fee as compensation for my expenses. As it is said that you shouldn't turn your hobby into a profession, I decided with a heavy heart not to pursue a career as a photographer after graduating from high school, but became "sensible" and studied.
