The Austrian classic of the rally scene has reinvented itself. New routes, new procedures and a new class, the Race Car Trophy. For the 21st Ennstal-Classic, the organizers Helmut Zwickl and Michael Glöckner have come up with a number of organizational changes. On Thursday, the first mountain stage to the local mountain of the starting town Gröbming, the Stoderzinken, started early in the morning, which made a real first rally day possible. This meant that the night prologue, which had previously been driven, was brought forward to midday, allowing the riders to enjoy the fantastic landscapes in daylight for once. The route led from the start in Gröbming over the Sölk Pass to the Red Bull Ring. From there, the riders rode over the Triebener Tauern to Bad Mitterndorf. After another classic of the Ennstal-Classic, the Postalm, the first car reached the center of Schladming at 19.00h.
