In the 1980s, Subaru was primarily known for pragmatic everyday cars with all-wheel drive. With the SVX, the Japanese manufacturer took a big leap forward in the 1990s to compete directly with Porsche and the like. With futuristic styling, all-wheel drive and a water-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine, it clearly set itself apart from the competition. This driving report shows the Subaru SVX in current and historical pictures as well as in contemporary advertising.
