The former marginal model R 5 L was heavily promoted in 1975, making it the top-selling German Renault. The station wagon was able to convince with a lot of cargo space and as an economy model with a long-lasting engine, but there were still some complaints. This test report from 1975 explains how it fared against its main competitors and whether it attracted the increased interest at the time.
