With the model update in 1969 and the switch from Solex carburetors to mechanical Bosch fuel injection, the Porsche 911 L became the 911 E. This more comfort-oriented model was particularly popular with the "Sportomatic", a semi-automatic four-speed gearbox with torque converter.
