The "savings miracle" that the economical one-sheet brochure proclaims is a Kadett with basic equipment. The one-liter/40 hp engine for normal fuel is remembered from the Kadett A (1962-65) - laudably, by the way. The one-liter was also available again with 48 hp for super - as an Italian/French export model. The performance character has changed somewhat since 1965, mainly because of the emissions regulations. As it is the same engine as the larger one (apart from a smaller cylinder bore), there can be no price miracle. Compared to the 1.2 liter/52 hp standard fuel Kadett, you saved DM 200 when buying it. Opel's sales strategists wisely ensured that the salespeople had no shortage of extra arguments for the 52 hp Kadett; the 40 hp economy model for 7480 DM is only available as a two-door model, only in red and ochre.
