Meditation on a sports car - the Bugatti 43 in a (historical) driving report
Summary
Shortly after the war, the Automobil Revue already dealt with a pre-war sports car, the Bugatti 43. The former racing car of the Swiss driver C. Godeffroy, which finished sixth at Klausen in 1932, was tested on normal roads and compared with its contemporary competitors. This report reproduces the original wording of the 1947 article, illustrated with pictures of various Type 43s and an original sales brochure, and thus provides an insight into the Bugatti phenomenon.

After some descriptions of pre-war sports cars in the "AR" have met with extraordinary interest, here is a closer look at an older car that enriched the "stable" of the "Automobil-Revue" on loan for a short time. It is a Bugatti sports car belonging to Caesar Godeffroy, which played a role in Swiss motor racing many years ago (1932 to 1935 to be precise). The fame that surrounded Ettore Bugatti's masterpieces ten or twenty years ago is slowly fading. The younger generation of sports enthusiasts only hears about the victories of Bugatti cars from stories, which have perhaps been damaged by the ravages of time. Even if Bugatti, which is now active in Paris, holds out the prospect of a return to the arena in the near future, we will have to make do with memories in the meantime.
