Summary
The design of the Mazda 929 was based on American taste, while the traditional technology was designed for robustness and reliability. As a coupé, the Japanese car of the early 1970s remained rare in this country, but has rightly matured into a desirable classic. This report tells the story of the elegant coupé and shows it in historical and current pictures as well as in the sales literature.

Nevertheless, early Mazda passenger cars are quite rare in Europe today. The 929 Hardtop Coupé photographed by Stefan Hintermeister is probably one of very few surviving examples of the first series in this country.
