Summary
In 1894, the factory founded by Emile Delahaye built its first automobile. In 1935, after the purchase of Delage, Delahaye launched the 135 on the market. This car, and to a lesser extent its post-war successor, the 235, was to enjoy 15 years of sporting and commercial success. Some of the most exciting bodies of the 1930s and 1940s were built on the Type 135 chassis, and today these cars are sought-after collectors' vehicles and welcome guests at the Concours d'Elegance around the world. This report describes the history of the Delahaye 135 and shows a series of vehicles in over 120 illustrations, some of them historical, supplemented by eight original prosects and technical data sheets. Unique!

After Delage was bought in 1935, Delahaye launched the 135 on the market. The company is based in Paris, in the 13th arrondissement, which is famous for its tapestries. It has been building cars since 1894 and is known for its meticulous production. In 1845, Emile Delahaye founded his factory, which initially specialized in pottery materials and built its first car in 1894. In 1897, an ill and exhausted Emile retired. In 1906, the directors Demoiroir and Morane appointed a new boss, Charles Weiffenbach. The workers soon called him "Monsieur Charles" because he was not a master like the others. He was able to forge, mill and turn a piece of work all by himself and could recognize any motor defect. Under his direction, prestigious cars, agricultural tools, reliable trucks and famous fire engines left the Rue du Banquier.
