Summary
The Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce and its relatives Giulia Sprint GT to 2000 GTV are among the most popular classic coupés ever. Between 1963 and 1977, around 225,000 left the Alfa Romeo production facilities. The fast GTA versions caused a sensation on the racetracks for years. This report is mainly dedicated to the version presented in 1967 with the 1.8-liter twin-camshaft engine, but the entire history is also briefly described. The report is supplemented by almost 100 pictures - contemporary and historical - as well as sales brochures, sound samples and technical data.

Preview (beginning of the article)
Can an Alfa Romeo be green , or to be more precise, sprayed in the color "Verde Pino" (pine green)? Absolutely, especially when it comes to the 1750 GT Veloce. Because Bertone has delivered a masterpiece here and the little Alfa looks good in any color. Of course, a large proportion of the vehicles were still red. But it is not color or shape that makes this Alfa the favorite of many classic car drivers, but its heart (i.e. engine) and its way of involving the driver in the ride. The joy begins at the start! The key is turned in the ignition and a mechanical fuel pump starts pumping fuel from the 46-liter tank at the rear to the front into the two Weber horizontal twin carburetors of type 40 DCOE. These mix gasoline with air and send the result into the engine, where four pistons begin to move and two overhead camshafts control the valve clearance. The result? A growling and wonderfully melodious engine sound that can do without sound engineering, electronics-optimized background noise and flap systems in the exhaust.
