When Alfa Romeo presented the Type 164 in 1987, its Tipo 4 siblings Lancia Thema, Fiat Croma and Saab 9000 had already been on the market for years. Nevertheless, the Alfa Romeo was probably the most interesting of the four platform cars, as it exuded a great deal of driving pleasure. This report describes the history of the Alfa Romeo 164 and shows it in current and historical pictures as well as in the sales literature of the time.
