70 years of Porsche sports cars are being celebrated on a broad scale in 2018, and there is not just one, but several books on the subject, including one from the Porsche Museum. Of course, they are at the source, so readers can expect a lot.

Much news?
The book is 400 pages long, but due to the relatively small footprint (approx. 13 x 21 cm) and the decision to present the texts in two languages, German and English, it is not possible to fit so much information into the work. Especially as there really is a lot to tell about Porsche.
The experienced connoisseur will learn little new, while the novice will find a good introduction to the 70-year history of Porsche.
From the huge photo archive, some rarely seen photos have also found their way into the book, especially the introductory chapter "The roots of Porsche" reveals some of the historical treasures.
Well structured?
The comprehensive book is divided into 13 chapters, each of which deals alternately with road and racing cars, but does not omit the future and the importance of the sports car for Porsche.

At a time when more four-door cars than two-door cars are leaving the Zuffenhausen-based manufacturer's factories, there is certainly a need for explanation.
Practical format?
In principle, a landscape format is definitely an advantage for a book, as the photos, which are usually wider than they are tall, can be reproduced well on the individual pages without having to print across the fold. However, because the museum book series is designed for a relatively small format, the pictures are still small at the end. And they are even smaller if several photos or a lot of text and photos are to be displayed.

The book still doesn't fit in your pocket because of its thickness, but that certainly wasn't the intention.
Only sports cars?
Well, the museum book can't do without the Panamera, Cayenne and the like, but the less sporty models really play a minor role.

Inexpensive?
EUR 14.95 for 400 pages, you can't complain. However, we are not entirely happy with the "album format", as the interesting photos are reduced to a very small area. On the other hand, the compact but thick book fits nicely on the couch table, so you don't have to let it gather dust on the bookshelf.
Buy it?
If you already have books on the individual Porsche sports cars (356, 911, 924, 928, etc.) in your library and are well stocked up on motorsport, you won't need a new book just for this one piece of information. However, for those who are even less well stocked, the Musuems book can certainly be recommended, as you get more than fair value for the 15 euros asked.
