The latest version of the 2.4 litre XK engine for the 240 model now develops no less than 133 b.h.p. and is equipped with a straightport cylinder head (as fitted to the 'E' Type G.T. cars), twin S.U. carburettors and a dual exhaust system. The 240 model is available with four speed, allsynchromesh gearbox with or without overdrive, or with Borg Warner Type 35 automatic transmission with dualdrive range. Standard equipment includes servoassisted disc brakes on all four wheels, comprehensive instrumentation, a high efficiency heating and demisting system, twin speed windscreen wipers and .electrically operated screen washers.
