On October 26, 2024, RM/Sotheby's auctioned off part of Rudi Klein's collection under the title "The Junkyard Sale". In addition to over 130 engine and spare parts lots, 67 cars and three motorcycles also went under the hammer. Together, the vehicles were estimated at over USD 20 million. However, the bidders were much more euphoric and some went for up to 25 times the estimated value. The high-flyer was an aluminum 300 SL gullwing for USD 9.4 million, which still has a lot of work to do.
