Photo Gallery «Gooding & Co Amelia Island 2020 - considerable demand for young cars»
It was a rather unusual selection of vehicles that Gooding & Co put under the hammer in Amelia Island on March 6, 2020. 60 percent of the cars on offer were from Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen. And the average age of the vehicles on offer was just 36 years. In this way, Gooding set a counterpoint to the competition, which brought significantly higher pre-war shares to Amelia Island. However, the recipe did not work out badly for Gooding (and the consignors), as 93 percent of the cars on offer were sold, including a Lamborghini Miura P400S, a Porsche 934 and a Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, notably one of the three pre-war vehicles, all of which went to new owners for over a million USD. However, the Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider from 1958 was left standing, despite a bid of USD 8 million. This auction report lists all the results in detail and analyzes the outcome of the event.
