Summary
On February 8, 2013, Artcurial hosted the Rétromobile auction. 115 vehicles (in addition to motorcycles, automobiles and a Mirage jet) went under the hammer. Once again, Maître Poulain staged a perfectly entertaining event, which was also a commercial success, as most of the vehicles on offer, including both exclusives and genuine people's cars, were sold. This auction report summarizes the atmosphere in the hall, describes some of the items for sale and lists all the results in detail. With over 100 pictures, you can gain an in-depth insight into the event.

When Maître Hervé Poulain, the auctioneer from Artcurial, said at the beginning of the Rétromobile auction that he wanted to convey some French culture to the international audience, this could certainly be interpreted ambiguously. But of course he wasn't referring to the chaotic organization in the entrance area or the overcrowded rooms, but to the opening surprise, which included chanson, cabaret and cancan in a thoroughly enjoyable performance, if you weren't sitting under a booming loudspeaker. If Artcurial know anything, it's how to turn an auction into a spectacle. Not only was the musical opening worth seeing, some of the cars were literally staged, with music and appropriately dressed girls. And Poulain is, of course, a man of words and knows how to make his pleasure or sometimes his displeasure clear with pointed remarks. For example, he began the auction with the following words: "We are pleased to conduct this auction in French". When he had to wait a little too long for a telephone bidder, he said: "Do the telephones need another 1/4 hour?".
