By upgrading the appearance and engine, the VW-Porsche sales company tried to give its 914 model an even brisker pace in sales. The once tame VW-Porsche offspring thus became a small sports car to be taken seriously. This short test from 1973 explains whether it was possible to turn the "best-selling sports car" in Germany into "the sports car" of Germany.
