The better solution - VW-Porsche 914 in the (historical) test

By upgrading the appearance and engine, the VW-Porsche sales company tried to give its 914 model an even brisker pace in sales. The once tame VW-Porsche offspring thus became a small sports car to be taken seriously. hen the sporty offspring of the VW and Porsche marriage hit the roads four years ago, it was praised, expectations were attached to the new mid-engined car, people speculated on performance, on location and on a favorable price. The smaller model, which was powered by an 80 hp VW engine, did not have much in the way of performance, and the 110 hp Porsche six-cylinder engine that powered the 914/6, which was later built in addition, raised the purchase price of the car to 20,000 marks, a level that only a few sporty and aesthetically unsophisticated buyers were prepared to pay. Nevertheless, the weaker one survived, the stronger one had to be taken out of the program due to lack of demand. Although the weaker model did not develop for a long time, it gradually achieved relatively respectable sales figures in Germany after advertising efforts, but recently reached an age when a certain fresh parts therapy seemed advisable. This was done, very skillfully by the way.
