When Audi launched the first RS 2 based on the 80 Avant, the public and the press still had difficulty classifying the result correctly. Who needed a station wagon with super sports car performance? 30 years later, such questions seem wonderfully nostalgic, reason enough to trace the beginnings and the development since then.
