Summary
Between 1968 and 1992, Jaguar produced the XJ series saloons in three series. Equipped with six- and twelve-cylinder engines, these vehicles offered upscale luxury and fast transportation. This vehicle report portrays a Jaguar XJ 12 L 5.3 of the second series, gives a brief outline of the development history and shows the XJ models in historical photographs.

The specifications called for a spacious, but above all comfortable luxury sedan, and at 4.8 meters long and almost 1.8 meters wide and weighing at least 1.6 tons, the car presented as the XJ 6 in autumn 1968 offered the expected luxury and style.
