Summary
With the BMW 503 and 507 sports car pair, BMW attracted all eyes at the IAA in 1955. The two-seater 507 was the center of interest, while the 503, which was visually closer to the BMW tradition, was somewhat overshadowed by the even sportier 507. Commercially, however, the 503 was more successful than the 507, albeit at a low level. This vehicle report describes the history of the BMW 503 and shows a coupé from 1957 in many pictures supplemented by extensive historical photo material.

The Automobil Revue noted at the time: "At the center of the exhibition discussions and surrounded by an almost magical attraction, the BMW stand presented the new 503, 505 and 507 models. The exhibition visitors had been waiting for this."
